Your surfing is better than your results

Free surfing and competition are two different sports. We coach the second one.

What a heat really is

A heat is twenty minutes, two or three scoring waves, and a hundred decisions. Priority, wave choice, where you sit, when you commit.

Most surfers train their surfing and never train any of that. Then they lose heats they had the surfing to win.

What we work on

We coach the parts of competition that do not show up in a free surf. Reading the bank and the tide for the heat. Choosing the right waves under priority. Building a two wave plan and a backup.

Then the surfing itself. The maneuvers that score, done when the judges are watching, filmed and reviewed the same day.

Video analysis

Every session is filmed. We watch it back together and pick one thing to change. Not ten. One.

Across a season, those single changes add up to a surfer who competes differently.

Who you are working with

Coaching since 2002. Ivan has worked with competitive surfers and national teams, including an Olympic qualifier.

The competition side of this job is not theory here. It is where a lot of the coaching has happened.

How it works

Competition coaching is built around your calendar, your events and your level. There is no fixed pack.

We design the program and the price together, based on what you are training for.
